Our 2009 harvest is crushed and aging, awaiting future release. All of our 2008 white wines and 2006 Red Wines are now available and they include a very exciting story about our new adventures! We are branching out and buying our grapes from several exclusive vineyards here in Nevada County as well as a few in Lake County. We are choosing the best grapes that fit our profile. Coupled with Jed Steele’s expert and award winning wine making skills, and Dennis Ball’s vineyard experience, we are producing some new and exciting varietals and blends. We know superior grapes, become extraordinary wines. There is an old adage which we believe whole-heartedly – “Poor wines can be made from good grapes, but good wines cannot be made from poor grapes. Hence, good wines begin in the vineyards.”
You might find these facts interesting as well – we use a combination of French and American Oak barrels – actually, for our reds, 30% of our barrels are new every year. One hundred percent French Oak is used in many of our white wine programs with 30% new each year. The investments we are making in our new wine making methods are well worth the additional costs, which have literally tripled since we started due to inflation. And, yes, that means a slightly higher priced wine to you. But, we’re certain you will taste the uncompromising results and agree that this is one of our finest vintages yet.
